Quality Institute.
Involved in the quality field since
1980 as a Laboratory Manager, Team Leader, National
Supervising Inspectorate, ISO 9000 Lead Auditor, Speaker,
Instructor and Consultant.
Joined Underwriters Laboratories
(UL) in 1986 and was one of the original members of
the Quality & Reliability Department.
As Q & R Team Leader for UL,
Nick was part of the Team that led UL’s effort
to achieve Accreditation to EN4500 and become an ISO
9000 accredited Registrar.
As auditor was responsible for auditing
and educating microcircuit distributors for ESD (Electrostatic
Discharge) compliance under the Military Distributor
auditing Program using JEDEC 108/109.
As a National Supervising Inspectorate
(NSI) for UL, was responsible for IECQ electronic
component part certifications both in the USA and
Taiwan, the certification of first fiber optic facility
(AMP) and responsible for first laboratory certification
in Taiwan using ISO Guide 25.
As third party auditor (ECCB) performed
audits at Intel, Cypress semiconductors on behalf
of Boeing, Lockheed and McDonald Douglas to comply
with DESC (Defense Electronics Supply Center) Military
MIL STD 883 requirements.
Nick became an ISO 9000 Lead Auditor
in 1989 and was involved in some of the first ISO
9000 Registrations in the USA and Mexico.
Performed more than one hundred
ISO 9000 registration audits for UL. Auditing diverse
companies such as Texas Instruments, AMP, AVX, Arrow,
DEC, Dupont, General Electric, Honeywell, Intel, Kemet,
Mohawk Wire, Milliken, Phillips , Square D, Wayerhouser,
and Union Camp.
Responsible for the first and second
Distributor Registration to ISO 9002 (Arrow Electronics)
in the USA and responsible for the first manufacturing
plant Registered to ISO 9002 in Mexico (Data General).
Founded one of the first quality management consulting
firms specializing in ISO 9000 in 1992.
As consultant, was responsible for
the ISO 9000 Registrations of Galvak Mexico’s
largest galvanized steel manufacturer, HYLSAMEX Mexico’s
second largest steel producer and NMC a precision
molder for the automotive industry.
As consultant, was responsible for
the first ISO 9002 Registration in the Construction
industry.
In 1996, introduced the use of Flowgrams
™, a flowcharting technique which reduces paperwork
related to Quality Management System implementation
by more than half.
Only consultant invited by ISO Geneva
as a speaker to numerous International Quality Conferences,
including various ISO 9000 Symposiums sponsored by
the International Organization for Standardization
(ISO) to promote ISO 9000 throughout the world.
Nick holds a Bachelors Degree in
Electrical Engineering from Pratt Institute and a
Degree in Electrical Technology Degree from Queensborough
Community College. A member of the American Society
for Quality (ASQ), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA),
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and an Internationally
Registered Certified Assessor (IRCA)
